Ray Lewis
was born and raised in Lakeland, Florida. He was born on June, 15, 1975. As of
now he is 6ft. 1 in, and he weighs jus around 250lbs. He grew up wanting to be a football player. He went to and was on the
football team at Kathleen High School.
He was the team MVP (Most Valuable Player) in both junior and senior seasons at Kathleen
High School. Lewis recorded 207 tackles with 10 sacks, and 8 Interceptions (3 for touchdown) in high school. He Rushed
for 591 yards and scored 8 Touchdowns as a RB. He also blocked 3 field goals as a senior and 3 field goals and 2 (Point after
Touchdown) as a junior.
Ray Lewis was a three-year starter at Miami State University. He Finished 5th
on Miami's all-time tackles list with 388 career tackles,
including 6 sacks, 4 punts and 2 for ran back for touchdowns. Led the Miami Hurricanes in tackles for 22 consecutive games
and also led the Big East Conference in consensus 1st-team All-America and All-Big East honors.
Ray Lewis signed a renegotiated deal with Baltimore Ravens on 8/25/97,it was Baltimore's 2nd pick in the 1st round
26th overall of the 1996 NFL Draft , after Jonathan Ogden was selected with the 4th overall choice in that draft, who is his
teammate on the front offensive line, who’s still his teammate. He signed to play permanent Middle Line Backer .It’s
the first year the Ravens were a team, at fist it was the Baltimore Colts, which is now the Indianapolis Colts.
In 2000 Lewis was the NFL Defensive MVP two times, once in 2000 and once in 2003. Ray Lewis became just the sixth player to win the Defensive Player
of the Year award multiple times Lawrence Taylor had it three times, and Joe Greene, Mike Singularity, Bruce Smith and Reggie White had it 2 times each.
He also was the Pro-Bowl starter and 1st all-team pro while leading the Ravens to World
Champions, at that time he was only 25.
In the 2001 season Ray Lewis was also First-team All-Pro and earned 5th consecutive Pro Bowl as he started all 16 games
and led the team and the NFL with 196 tackles, that was also the 6 consecutive year he led the NFL (National Football League)
in tackles. He also made 2 tackles and scored a TD in the Pro Bowl. He recorded 12 tackles (8 solo) and 2 interceptions in
a 16-0 win in game vs. Cincinnati Bengal’s on (12/23).He also recorded a season-high 19 tackles (13 solo), including
1 sack and 2 turnovers forced, in 39-27 win in game 12 vs. Indianapolis Colts on (12/2).Led the team with 16 tackles (10 solo),
including 1 sack in the 20-13 win in game against Denver Broncos on (9/30.
In 2002 Ray Lewis Started
the first 5 games of the season before being placed on injured reserve (shoulder)
on 11/2.He Still managed to finish 5th on the team with 85 tackles (57 solo).Also he had, 3 Interceptions, 1Punt
Block, 3 Forced Fumbles.
Ray Lewis Started all 16 games in 2003 earning the AP -NFL Defensive Player of the Year honors for the 2nd time (2000), becoming just the 6th player
in NFL record to win multiple times on again Lawrence Taylor had it 3 times,
Joe Greene, Mike Singletary, Bruce Smith and Reggie White had it 2 times each.
he also Earned his 6th Pro Bowl nod and was the leading vote-getter (49 of 50) for 1st-team AP All-Pro honors.
In 2004 the dynamic Middle Line Backer earned his 7th Pro Bowl nod in 9 seasons after leading the Ravens with 200 tackles,
the 3rd 200-tackle performance of his career, including 122 solo tackles . He was named 1st -team All Pro by
the AP, 2nd-team All Pro by College and Pro Football Weekly and Football Digest and All Pro by The
Sporting News in 2004.
Ray Lewis started the 1st 16 games of the season and recorded
77 tackles was on pace for 205 tackles on the season, 1 sack, 3 Forced Fumbles, 1 Interception and 1 before missing the final
10 games of the year after surgery to repair a torn hamstring.
